SID BATHAM FEELS

You may remember the name Sid Batham from a few years ago when his quriky pop was fast propelling him towards major label success, before he pulled the plug and withdrew from it all to explore writing, producing and artistry on his own terms. Three years later and with a new sense of self, he returns with funk filled single 'Feels', out via tastemakers Olympia Records on 28 October. The song's intro has shades of darkness with its minimal pounding beat and contrasting falsetto vocals, but the result is edgy rather than gothic. The tension breaks before long, descending into waves of upbeat dark-pop and what really stands out are the moments of clarity where Batham's unique vocal affection overpowers the bass. Batham really is proof that slow and steady wins the race. - SJ
